Hi everyone.
I bought an Apple Watch series 5 cellular in January, and I have been very happy with the battery life up until a couple of weeks ago.
Nothing new has been installed on the watch, no settings has been altered - but I now I just barely make it through the day on days without workouts. My daily routines are just the same as they were when I was happy with the battery life.

I use the screen with “always on”, and earlier I experienced a percentage of 25-40 when I recharged it during the night (depending on whether I worked out etc.).

When writing this, I’ve used the watch for about 4 hours, and the battery is down to 84%. Usually I’m at mid 90s at this time. When I put the watch on the charger yesterday night, I had 2% left - this has never occurred before, even after a 120 min workout during the day.

Does anyone have any idea what this is about? This behaviour is not working out for me, and I will need to get this fixed if the watch is to be used.

thanks.

Have you restarted it? Sometimes there is a glitch and restarting fixes it.

Definitely try restarting if you haven’t.

I’d also check to make sure that you are still connected to your phone ( the little phone icon in the upper left when you pull up the setting screen by swiping up from the bottom). I had an incident recently where I somehow turned off Bluetooth. My AirPods still connected but my phone wouldn’t. I was on wifi and cellular all day and it was just chewing through my battery.

I did a hard reboot yesterday, and yes the watch is connected to my phone.
I once forgot my phone at home, and used my watch as a substitute at work all day. It was ofc paired with my AirPods. even then I managed to use the watch all day.

thanks for feedback, I’ll get back to this thread later tonight when I know whether or not the problem is solved.

If you're still having problems, an unpair and repair has a good chance of fixing it.

I have been very happy with the battery life up until a couple of weeks ago.
There was a watchOS update on April 8

I had an OS update kill my battery life, It would die in about 4 hours. (it was a series 0 and several years ago)
the unpair repair fixed it.

it should backup when you unpair, or you can manually do a backup just to be safe
you can restore from that backup, so you shouldn't loose much
One thing to keep in mind before starting, this can take up to an hour or more to finish, and it's going to want to be on the charger and 50%+ battery

My series 4 has been acting up in a similar way since the latest update. When it gets to around 90% it will instantly go into power saving mode.

Hi again!

It appears that the problems have been resolved with the latest update and with a hard reboot.
Yesterday I used the watch from 8 in the morning. Had a quick workout and was sitting up watching a movie long past midnight - still over 40% battery left.

I suspect the reboot fixed a lot, it hadn’t been restarted since I bought it.

Thanks guys for helping me out.
Marius.
