I'm finding conflicting information whether or not I should disable SMS on my 13" MBP early 2011. I have a 3rd party SSD (840 Samsung Evo) in the main bay and a HDD in the optical bay.

1. Should I disable SMS with my current setup?
2. Does SMS even affect HDDs located in the optical bay?

No harm leaving it enabled, even if triggered your SSD wont come to any harm from a "park heads" command.

Yes I believe it does, when triggered the SMS causes the logic board to issue an emergency park head command on both drive interfaces is my understanding.
