Sudden Need to Authenticate Everything

About 3 days ago, Mac OS X started prompting for password constantly.

I would attempt to copy an app to the application folder.
And would need to authenticate.

Emptying trash would require a password.

Any one have any ideas?

Are you on a limited user account? Have you messed with system preferences immediately before it did this?
