I have a G4 733 and last night out of nowhere it started to shut down suddenly. No power. It did it several times and when I was doing different things. It would have power for a bit and then I would be able to power it up. Work for a bit...then bam shut down.
 
My guess

Sounds like a heat problem which would shut the processor down automatically. Maybe one or more fans have stopped working properly or air circulation is impeded in some way... Check this first.

Download MenuMeters (OSX only) from VersionTracker, see if you can install it and get it to monitor your processor temperature...
