Suddenly Final Cut will not capture

I shot a project with my Canon XHA1 camera, captured the footage on Final Cut and did some editing. Later I shot some more footage for the same project but now "capture" says Unable to initialize HDV deck. Check cable to make sure you are connected. Everything is connected properly and my Mac is receiving the HDV signal (proved with a QuickTime Pro test). Why will Final Cut's capture now not recognize it?

Settings (none changed from earlier editing session):
Canon XHA1 set to HDV out
Easy setup set up: HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60
System settings and User Preferences are standard/predictable and unchanged

I'll appreciate any insight you can offer.
