For days now, when I try to send an email from my decade-old .mac address, it is immediately kicked back to me with the message, "You have exceeded your daily sending limits". This goes for both my phone and Macbook Pro. It works if I send from the iCloud version of the same address, but I hate iCloud, and when people email me I have to convert my reply to .icloud or it won't send. This happens even if I haven't sent any emails, so I'm not exceeding any limit.

I've signed out and back into my iCloud account (which I pay for, BTW), with no change.

This happened around the time I upgraded my iPhone 5S to iOS9. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5 on a 2014 Macbook Pro.

Who is your Mail Provider? (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.) You probably need to contact them to find out why you're getting that error message.

Call Apple Support right now if you pay for it!
