suddenly my imac G5 just slowed down a lot

So a couple days ago my imac G5 (isight no intel 2.1 Ghz 1GB RAM) started to slow down continually. On itunes especially after 2 or 3 separate times starting a song it will do the spinny wheel for like 10 seconds. its really annoying to listen to a song you dont want to and wait for it to respond. is there any way to fix this? it's also just in general slowing down and it was never THIS slow

Open up activity monitor and see what is eating up the processor. Have you did any maintenance on your machine like repair permissions
