I've an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. It's served me remarkably well for a few years now, but suddenly the internet is slow as cold molasses. I bypassed the router and plugged in straight to the modem the internet was fast again. So it's something to do with wifi either on the part of the router or my macbook... Never had any issues and I didn't change anything, so what could the problem suddenly be?

ETA: Just realised my phone's internet connection is fast on the network so it must be a problem with my macbook itself. What am I supposed to do about it though?

Have you power cycled the Base Station and your Macbook?

try changing the channels; this fixed the opposite problem for me. My macbook was blazing fast thru wifi, but my iphone wasn't. I changed to channel 11 on 2.4ghz band and boom, 4x faster.
