My iMac (21.5-inch, 2017) has no optical drive, but I have a need to rip some physical CDs to MP3/AAC. I'd rather not buy the albums again so I thought of an external CD drive.

Any suggestions on a reasonably priced unit? I'd like to be as economical as I can since this won't get much use.

TIA

I'd go to a place like amazon, and review external USB DVD/CD burners.
You should be able to find one there for $25 or less.

TIP:
BE AWARE that -some- (not all) external USB DVD/CD drives -might- require a "Y-cable" to provide enough USB power to the drive for burning. The dual-headed end connects to TWO USB ports on the Mac, the single-headed end goes to the drive itself. Again, not all drives require this, but some do.

I have a Samsung BD/DVD/CD drive that works fine with a single-ended cable.

My advice is to READ THE USER REVIEWS from Mac users, as to whether a dual-headed cable is needed.
