It's (rather slow) USB rather than firewire but there's Mac software available so you can copy your recordings off the box. It also does the new Freeview Playback / Freeview Plus, stuff so you can do series record which is pretty handy. Had it for a few years now, never had any serious issues with it. Frequent firmware updates keep it up to date.
