Hi all, what would you suggest i pick up to figure out this mac thing?? I bought a used i-mac 15" LCD for my kid and am stymied by the differences to the PC. Thanks in advance, Scott.

the missing manual is very good and highly recommended. i wouldn't worry too much about it being a jag (if you have panther). i learned just about everything about jag. from the missing manual for 10.1...

lots of good hints and usability options.

I saw David Pogue on the Screensavers and the new edition of the Missing Manual which includes Panther is due out in December. I relied heavily on the Jaguar edition when I switched.

one of the reasons i mentioned how even older missing manuals is still good (esp. for recent switcher) is that you can find those in public libraries. i found missing manuals to be a good read, but not a very good reference. so i didn't want to buy it because i'd read it once and be done with. but public libraries often have some copies, they are not the latest but plenty useful and they are free! i just thought it's a good way to get your foot in the door and get started using OS X.

i will probably go take a look at a panther one to see if there's something really useful to learn.
