All iPads Suggested words while typing on iPad iOS 8.1

Does the iPad mini keyboard allow for word suggestions like the iPhone keyboard?

I'm running iOS 8.1 on a iPad mini retina

Seems to me that if the iPhone has it, shouldn't the iPad?

Yes, it does. At the top of the keyboard you'll see a little bar right in the center put your finger on it and slide up. You should then see the word suggestions. Close it the same way, but there is no bar..
