Just wondering .. IF I wanted to buy a phone (any kind) from someone on Craigslist -- in person of course, I'm concerned about later finding that phone being reported as stolen and then effectively finding it added to the stolen phone list and it no longer working..

To that end .. is there anything I can do to prevent this sort of thing -- perhaps having the seller sign a paper that reads that IF they report the phone as stolen then they are required to give me a full refund or similar? Of course, this assumes the seller is the original owner of the phone..

Any other suggestions or thoughts? At this point I'm very leary of buying a phone that is not new..

I think the safest thing is to probably meet at a carrier store and have the phone verified there. If the seller isn't willing to do this I would avoid the phone.
