I am thinking of getting Cellular Mini soon but would like to have VoIP so presume I need an app that can give me a phone number. I used to have Skype for that but as this is going, any good apps that work in UK where I can have a phone number to be reached on and presumably able to call out too?

Many thanks.

Isn't MicroSoft Teams (Skype replacement) offering personal phone numbers? I'm not completely familiar with how that system will work for personal use, though.

Is connected to your Microsoft login. You don’t get assigned a telephone number.

To use a UK VoIP number on your cellular iPad, you'll need to set up a VoIP service and then use that service to make and receive calls on your iPad, using the iPad's cellular data connection.

Here's a breakdown of the process:

1. Choose a VoIP Service:
  • VoIP Providers:
There are numerous VoIP providers offering UK numbers, such as Voipfone, T2k, Telecoms World, and others.
  • Considerations:
    • Number Type: You can choose between 030/033 numbers (recommended), 0844/0843 numbers, or 056 new voice service numbers.
    • Cost: VoIP services typically involve monthly fees for the number and potentially per-minute charges for calls.
    • Features: Look for features like call forwarding, voicemail, and integration with other apps.

2. Set Up the VoIP Service:
  • Sign Up: Choose a provider and sign up for a VoIP account.

  • Get a UK Number: Obtain a UK number from your VoIP provider.

  • Install VoIP App/Software: Download and install the VoIP provider's app or software on your iPad.

  • Configure Settings: Follow the provider's instructions to configure your VoIP app/software with your account details and the UK number.

3. Make and Receive Calls:
  • Make Calls: Use the VoIP app/software to make calls by dialing the recipient's number.

  • Receive Calls: When someone calls your UK VoIP number, the call will be routed through the VoIP service and displayed on your iPad.

  • Data Connection: Your iPad's cellular data connection will be used to make and receive these calls.
