Suggestions to bring down the man!

basically for the past ten months, I've been charged $20.00 every month for a subscription to a ringtone company. yeah, $20 is alot of a subscprition. but this is the kicker. It's a subscrition five different times. This is what my latest phone bill looked like:

see, all the same things? i dont know what the extra $6 is to go up to $20, but it's $20. Anyway, so I called AT&T and they explained it was subscription. They said they could only go back two months and reimburse me $59.00. ( i dont get how that adds up. but whatever.)

So where did this subscription come from? Last July, I purchased a download from Mtv and yeah, the price was, I guess, $2.99. But I stopped the subscription. So, yeah, basically, over the past year, I've been paying an extra $200 for some this. And that's alot of money.. especially for a poor college student.

So, basically, i kinda wanted to rant a little. And I wanted some advice on ways to go about getting back that other $120 that AT&T will not be able to give me. I'm about go to the motricity website and email the customer service people there.

oh, and you might be wondering why I didnt take better attention to my phone bill before? well, I did. I went to a store and asked what the $20 was for. And they gave me some weird answer, which I accepted because I didnt think it was going to be a big deal. But just recently, i realized i'm incredibly poor and I wanted to see how I could cut down my $85 a month phone bill. and i stumbled upon this.

One of life's little lessons. When it comes to money, always read the small print and don't believe everything sales staff tell you.

i must be daft because I couldnt find the customer service number anywhere on their website.

i tried to email them (they have a little form thing..) but im not sure if it worked. ugh.

How come you let it go on for so long? You could for sure have saved that $200 if you would have talked to them months ago.

I say call motorcity and explain that you cancelled and show them any documentation you have of that fact.

For the first six month, I monitored my and my wife's cell phone bills (first time we had cell phones in Japan). After that, I cancelled the detailed paper reports and just monitored the cost every month. As long as it isn't more than a few dollars off from the previous month, I know everything is fine.

It's probably a bit late but I have all my cellphone bills get autopayed from my Amex card. Had a few 800 number calls charged to phones from some strange text message scam and Verizon had a difficult time removing charges. Disputed credit card charge with Amex and they petitioned Verizon who took the charges and all back ones off pronto.
