Trying to keep the title straightforward: there are various PCI-to-CardBus cards out there with varying chipsets, though I want to check in first with folks here who might have configured something like this for their own towers (for whatever purpose — a wireless card, for reading SD cards, etc.) running Leopard/Tiger or a variety of Linux.

It seems we’ve never really discussed this kind of PCI card on here — not directly, anyway. Just so I’m being clear, I’m posting a generic example of the form factor of the card type in mind.

I have nothing to add here, as I've never tried it. But I do hope this thread gets some play, I've often wondered about these things myself. Would be nice to hear some experiences.

I imagine most of these units, at least the name-branded varieties, are very much discontinued, while generic cards with varying chipsets are still being made in the PRC.

This above is an interesting unit. It’s the first I’ve seen which accommodates two Type I/II cards (or one Type III). Glancing at the specs suggests, as with many of these PCI cards, they are spec’d for Wintel-based hardware, though offhand I’m not sure why they might not work here.

I’ll try to look into this model and any others which mirror its feature set.
