I am looking to buy and iPod Touch and I am looking for suggestions to which generation I should buy. I have done a lot of research on the 4G 8GB because it is fairly new and is not too high priced. So initially, I am interested to know whether you think it is a good choice. Let me know what generation I should look into buying :D

It really depends on what you want the iPod Touch to do and the apps you plan to use.

You say you have researched. If so, you have considered the following:

Do you want a front and rear facing camera?
Do you want a retina display?
Do you want 512MB of Ram versus 256MB of Ram?

If so, you want the 4th generation versus the 3rd generation iPod Touch.

A word of warning, 8GB is really not enough memory for most users. If you plan to stream your music and video, it might be sufficient. But if you want to store music and video in those instances when you don't have wifi access, you're going to find that 8GB is very restricting. This also applies if you are going to use the iPod Touch for gaming as some games can be 1GB alone.

I would highly recommend buying the 32GB model.

Agreed. I have taken the fact that it may not be enough space into account. Yet, money is tight. Do you happen to know a site or store that sells the 32GB cheaper than usual? Actually, I don't even really know how much the 32GB normally costs, I've just heard they cost more. :)

Is the iPod touch 5G out yet??? I guess I have more research to do :)

how much stuff do you have on your 8GB? like songs, apps/games, that stuff? i just wanna get a good idea of how much crap i will be able to put on it

I want a white iPod touch 4G preferably an 8GB. anyone know of sites and stores that sell them CHEAP? like $50/$60 cheap? my limit is $100 which is probably unreal considering how expensive they are! Just wondering...

If you intend to game on your ipod, then I'd suggest wait for the 5th gen in September. If it's largely music, then 4th gen can be fine. As such, 4th gen is 2 years old, so you can expect significant muscle addition to it in the next generation, which is important from gaming perspective. Not to mention there are good chances 5th gen will have a larger display.

3rd gen is way too antique now for you to consider it imo.

Well, I intend to have a few games (and I don't know if you would consider them games cuz theyre not very big i dont think) like fruit ninja or angry birds, but nothing like mmorpgs or whatever you know like not multiplayer games and whatever, but I intend to have quite a few apps and maybe 100-200 songs. Also quite a few movies. what would you suggest for that?

I doubt you'll be able to have a few movies on an 8GB iPod Touch. Movies sometimes are 2-3GB big. So you'll only be able to have a two or 3 movies on a 8GB and with apps and music I doubt they'll be space. You need to keep in mind even though the device has 8GB of storage the OS and other system files takes up a little of that so really you only have 7.3GB of real storage probably.

I'd suggest you save up a bit more and wait for a 32GB. Even if you buy one second hand. You can probably get a second hand 32GB for less then an 8GB model. Put $20 away every week for a few months and you'll have a 32GB in no time.

thanks for suggestions. i will try to talk it over with my mom. i was thinking that with movies I would need a 32 GB or maybe even 64 but 64 is way too expinsive and she wouldnt even consider it. i tried telling my dad about 8GB and he thinks thats fine but prob wont let me get 32GB. how much does the 32GB cost lie at walmart or other stores like that? i need a money idea. man i wish they had 16GB!!

False. The 4th gen only has 256MB of RAM. It did not get a RAM upgrade over the 3rd gen.
