Hi,
I am looking for iphone apps which will sum up the time in minutes and seconds and store it.
Whenever, I am doing a outing call (especially for international call), I have to note down the call duration in min and seconds in that apps.
Ths apps should sum up all the call duration, so that I can able to know how much duration is left?
I have 300 mins (seconds billing) of free international calls, after that is't chargeable.
Looked for many apps/workaround not able to do this simple thing in this iphone, which can be handled easily in all my previous mobiles (Nokie/Sony Ericssion).
Now, I am looking for manually enter the duration..atleast any apps is out there to sum the time in min and seconds?

You can't...unless you jailbreak. Apple doesn't have any public API involving phone function.

CocoaPuffs,

I know without jailbreak no possible way of calculating the call duration (custom).
But is there any application which will sum up all the time in minutes and seconds like adding the amount? (will manually enter the call duration)

The iPhone does this. Go to Settings -> General -> Usage. It shows total call time, in hours and minutes, since you last reset your usage statistics. Every new month, just hit "reset statistics" and it'll reset to zero.

There's no way to track international vs. domestic though.

Your response has nothing to do with OP's question, which at this point is irrelevant, because apparently OP needs a math lesson.

I thought he was asking for a way to track the amount of call time he's had since he only gets 300 mins a month before he starts getting charged. His English isn't the best though and my brain's a little fried, so if that's not what he's looking for, oops.

Nope, he's trying to figure out how to "accurately" calculate his usage, which Settings cannot provide.

Does the iPhone's usage meter automatically round up to minutes at the end of each call? Genuine question, I actually don't know. I guess it would have to if it's not reporting seconds.

It's simply a cumulative counter and nothing more. All the service providers I know round up the minute, so there could be a huge gap between timer from the phone and actual usage.

Gotcha. Sorry, just finished up finals week. Like I said, brain is a little fried.

Example:

Making a call and call is active for 5 mins 34 secs

After call is completed, I am MANUALLY (I KNOW KNOW KNOW, iphone is not capable of it) entering this 5 mins 34 secs (in some apps/whatever I am looking for)

Making another call and call is active for 8 min 63 secs

After call is completed, I am again MANUALLY (I KNOW KNOW KNOW, iphone is not capable of it) entering this 8 mins 63 secs (in some apps/whatever I am looking for).

Like this for a month I will a make hundreds of calls. I need a application which will store and SUM (Add) all the minutes. SO that I can able to see how much min/secs is available before making further calls which should not exceed 300 mins. My services provider is providing seconds billing rather than minutes billing.

In the above case the total outgoing call duration is:

5 mins 34 secs
8 mins 63 secs
--------------
14 mins 37 secs (I need some apps to do it. I know this is basic maths,
---------------- but having 50- 60 entries per month and need to sum it up manually is tedious...

In market, we have many apps for finance like budget, cashtrails,iXpense and how the user is entering all the details in day to day basis and they can able to see how much they spend on day-to-day basis. It's also a basic math with simple addition and subtraction..but it's tedious to do on the daily basis and that's why many apps are in the market to do it.. I am looking for a similar apps with different unit to sum up... it's min/secs basis..

The information in Settings >> General >> Call time is not useful for ME.
Not even having a separate information for outgoing/incoming duration..and it's completely useless information on my point of view and I don't how this details will be useful for the users..?

Hope explained my points clearly..

Aren't these calls usually round up? So if you make a call for 4 minute and 32 seconds, it's actually a 5 minute call?

On a side note, how hard is it to use a spreadsheet? Or just use Notes, and then add them up on a later date.

I have an app called Allowance.

It does all this for me.

Let's me know how many minutes are remaining, how many texts, and how many days till te start of my next months usage.

And 8 mins 63 seonds?

Seariously?!

No. Thats what I mentioned it's SECONDS Billing rather than Minutes Billing.

jabingla2810,

And 8 mins 63 seonds? TYPO ERR..

I have checked Allowance app and it's for keep track of payments right?
Are you talking about Allowance from Willow Ridge Software?

LMAO.

I can see what you're trying to do, but other than manually i don't know of way to do it.

Hi,

Since you are willing to enter each call manually there's a very simple solution. A spreadsheet app, especially one that will allow freezing panes.

In the top few rows have your totals and in the rows below you enter your minutes/seconds for each call. The freezing panes comes in handy to always show the totals at the top while you enter your data below the frozen pane/line.

That's my final approach which I had decided earlier. I think i have to go with it. I need to check with my quickoffice. thanks.

No

It tells me how many minutes ive used, how many I have remaining, and the date I have to use them by.

EG

"You have used 137 minutes of 300

You have used 496 sms messages out of 1000

Your bill date is 07/05/10"

So I know that I have 163 minutes to use before the 7th!

I dont understand how this thread is this long.... doesnt everybody use an app to do this?

Theres loads in the app store  maybe ive missed the point
