My friend and I are here on the west coast, wanting a little adventure this summer. We haven't done something super crazy yet, so we were thinking a week long vacation somewhere would be super fun-a vacation to somewhere cheap and where not a lot of people consider going to. We were thinking Ocean City, MD, where we could spend a week on the boardwalk and enjoy the summertime favorites on the Assateague Island National Shoreline.

Is anyone from here, or been here before? I'd like some good and honest opinions about this place before I start booking. I've been overdue of a vacation for some time, and my friend and I are looking forward to goin somewhere adventurous!

I go to OCMD prolly 4-10 times every summer, usually for 2-4 nights at a time. OCMD is WILD in the summer (IIRC 100k+ people) and DEAD in the winter (around 1k people), so it is a seasonal town. The crowds it draws are mixed and there are a lot of younger persons who spend the summer down their. It's easy to get laid. You have to like to party a bit and enjoy the ocean. It's a lot to do in the summer, lot of people to meet, and rather wild. There is the infamous 'drunk bus' which you can ride all day for $2. The last time I was on the drunk bus last August I got a lapdance from a beautiful and intoxicated young lady.

OCMD's biggest attraction is SEACRETS, which you are not prepared for until you go their. It is unlike anything you have ever known.

Really, you have never seen anything like Seacrets and it is simply unique and amazing. Good live bands too.

+1 for OCMD. I go there every summer and it's always a good time. It's not as "douchey" during the day as some area beaches, and the nightlife will keep you occupied. Especially fun during Memorial Day Weekend or 4th of July weekend.

4th of July weekend is nuts. Then from mid July to mid-late August, it is peak time and it is INSANE. Prices go up a lot tho that time. If you want to save money, get your supplies from Berlin's Walmart or Foodlion. Getting stuff in OC is much higher priced, especially at the smaller 'supply' stores.

Also in the summer, MANY people come in student-exchange programs to OCMD for a few months and you will have the chance to meet a lot of people from around the world. If you like culture variation, you will love it. Also from the US, people from all places mix and that in itself is amusing to see. I will tell you that I have had so much fun talking/hanging out/spending some time with many people I have met from allover the world, and to this day I still keep in contact with many of them. The last few years has been largely Russian students and it was great to meet them as I really did not know many people who had/do live in Russia. Also, many of the girls are very, very, very sexay

Haven't been there in 20 years, that being said, beautiful wide wooden boardwalk area, very east-coast-shore-ish mixed with a little Daytona-ish nightlife.

Try youtube searching for recent videos to get an idea of current status.

Rule of thumb- The higher the street number (1-100), the further away from ground zero. And Bay side is quieter (much) than Ocean side, so if you want to be in the thick of things, low street number on the ocean side is the way to go.

OP,

How old are you?

If you are looking to party hard, OC is for you. If not, maybe head to a NC beach. It really just depends on what you're looking for. I lived on the beach in OC and now in NC. Both have their merits.

Nice place to hang out for a week. If you want to have the quintessential beach time, then you need to come around June/July time frame when all the kiddies are in town hanging out, drinking, etc. This is, ironically, the best time to see lots of boobs :p

If you want to just have a chill time at the beach without the huge crowds? Then you'll probably want to come around late August/September time frame since hardly anyone is around then so you'll actually get to lie out on the beach without issue.
