Hello

This is a strange one I am facing.

My now antique Sunflower iMac was showing some slow response times.

I did a little check and discovered that the disk was about to fail, backup and repair !

So I did a backup and re-run disk utility, now everything is ok. I tried other options such as unix, onyx, and these all indicate SMART as "verified"

Anyone have any suggestions on what can make this happen?

Is my disk dead or not ?

Your disk is OLD

It could well be failing, but if Disk Utility was able to repair it that may just be a case of accidental data corruption and you will be fine for another year or more.

If you are concerned, why don't you take it to a service centre to get the disk replaced?
