Suntan Oil Helps Woman Escape Attacker

I'm sure there's something witty or funny I should say about this but it's too early in the morning.

Fountain Valley, Calif. (AP) -- A woman who had slathered herself with suntan oil escaped an attacker in a park restroom in part because she was too slippery for him to grab, authorities said.

Good for her, the suntan oil was just that extra lubricant. She still had to fight him off, the oil just made it easier.

Placing aside the humorous aspect of her being "slathered" in suntan oil, it's appalling that this guy was so blatant as to (1) attack her on a Sunday morning, and (2) be so obvious as to follow her into the women's restroom at the park.

Apparently no one else was around at the time, but still it was apparently broad daylight (hence the need for the sunscreen) in a public park. At least she was aware of her surroundings and was able to recognize she was in trouble and prepare.

Scary, really, especially for those of us who jog and have female spouses/friends/relatives who do as well.

Its appaling how many sexrelated crimes happen in parks. Pedophiles and rapists love to hang out at parks (generally speaking) as well as "flashers". My brother in law was a deputy sheriff and not a week went by without something happening at a park. The stories he would tell. Sometimes multiple instances per week. Its pretty scary. Apparently these predators hang out at parks because people see them as safe places and let their guard down. The high attendance of children is a draw for these sickos, too.

Glad she got away.
