A really nice man has offered me a great deal on his used Pismo.

Pismo G3 500Mhz
256MB RAM
Airport Card
New IBM HD (20GB)
Hot-swap CD/DVD ROM
Hot-swap extra battery
External Zip drive
External CD-Burner

price: $350!

I've seen it and it is in MINT condition. Runs really well (10.2.6).

I'm really waiting out for a new Powerbook, but this deal is sooooo sweet! I'd be happy using this until the new Powerbooks are launched.

Can anyone give me a good reason NOT to take this Pismo?

I think you could pay $350 for the peripherals and accessories he's giving you. Add together an extra battery, CD-burner, Zip drive, Airport card and he's giving you the Pismo for free.

Things to look for though: stress fractures between the left-hand swappable drive slot and the vent on the side of the base (more-or-less in line with the "fn" key on the left of the keyboard). Also, small cracks on the black casing radiating from the corners of the LCD screen. Even these are totally minor things and should not be worried about particularly.

Great laptop - definately go for it! You may need to buy new rubber feet for it as they seem to vanish without explanation.

Best of luck

Al

I'm posting this update from my new Pismo!

WOW - this thing is so fly. I was even wrong about the HD size. The original owner put in a 30GB IBM Travelstar (super quiet) about a year ago.

I purchased everything in the original boxes (right down to the extra battery & AC adapter). The book was even in it original plastic bag (now that's attention to detail).

Thanks again to J----- for the killer deal. I owe you one!

The other great thing about my new Mac is that I no longer am obsessed with possible new Powerbooks. This one is just fine...
