When I eject on my G5, the tray hits the case and wont eject. I have to force it down to pop out. Is this a common fault or do I need a new drive?

I imagine the spring mechanism has just come un-hooked somehow. You should be able to take the side off of the G5 and work out how to put it back on. If not, take it to your local Apple Store/dealer.
