Super slow internet on desktop but not on macbook in same room

The desktop in my office (a Mac running 10.7.4) is taking forever to load things on the internet! My MacBook (also running 10.7.4) which is literally on the same desk is still fast (enough). Any ideas on what I can do to get the desktop up to speed?? They're both on the same (password protected) wifi network.
