Super small icons right side of dock (part that appears after divider)

Hi guys!

Relatively new Mac user here. I'm having a strange graphical issue where the icons appearing at the right side of the dock (after the divider) are very very small. I've attached an image to the post to illustrate. I've dinked around in the dock settings to no avail. Anyone know what the issue might be? I close the apps and the icons disappear and it'll be fine for a little but but after I wake the laptop up from sleep, it seems to happens again.

Corrupt Dock plist file?
Delete it so that the OS will build a new one set to factory defaults.

As Gregg2 said, delete dock plist file might help.
Open terminal then paste this.

defaults delete com.apple.dock; killall Dock

And hit enter.
This will revert the Dock to factory setting.
