I have a Powerbook 12" that has a non working superdrive. I purchased this used a few years ago and prior to my purchase there was an upgrade to the memory and the screws were stripped, so I cannot replace the superdrive. (not bad for buying for $200)
My question: Can I install a OSX using my new MBPro or another device as the target drive?
Thanks!

Boot the PB in Target drive mode connected to the MBP, then Install using the MBP on the "external" PB.

Awesome! thanks!

You guys rock, thanks for the speedy info and solution to my question.

Powerbook 12" will not see the remote disc

I set up my MBP to share the dvd / disc and did the same on my PB 12" and rebooted both. No luck. They are both airport extreme also...any ideas or should I just do the Firewire trick?
This would have been cool too!
:)

You could restore the OS X installer to an external HDD on your good computer and then boot off the HDD on your broken one.

thanks again for the suggestions

I have never installed OSX on a external hard drive, can I do that on a MyBook/Western Digital 500 gig? Do you have a link with more info on this procedure?
Thanks!
