Superdrive ejects DL DVD???

I tried to burn some info to a Dual Layer DVD for permanent record, but when I put it in the slot, the drive made some noises, then spit it out. I'm sure I have a superdrive, but why won't my G4 load the DVD? Here is what my system profiler says...

What do you guys think? I can read DVD's on it fine, but this is the first time I've ever tried to burn a DVD.

Only 2005 and later PowerBooks support DL DVD's.

Huh... interesting to know. Is there a hack??? I need to back up my music!

It's hardware, not software. You'd have to install a later SuperDrive.

Hate to have to tell you...

Also, maybe it's in your better interest to invest in a backup medium that is rewritable and more space efficient?

Nope. It's a hardware limitation that can only be overcome with a upgraded optical drive.

alright... It's Okay. If mine can't Read or write on DL DVD's, how can it read the software install DVD's? They have to be bigger than 4.5 GB!

I'll just buy a big USB or external for music backup

PS- So mine CAN write on regular DVD's?

It can read dual layer DVD's, it just can't burn them. It is able to burn signal layer DVD's without a problem.
