I am having problems with my Superdrive. I have a new eMAc, 1.25 Ghz, Superdrive Pioneer 107D, with 512 Mb RAM, 80 Gig HD, system 10.3.4. The program I use for burning is Dragon Burn 4, the latest version. I am very happy with this program, but I can't burn at 8X. I have Ritek and PioData disks, both claiming 8X, and the recorder info in Dragon Burn suggest I can burn at 8X, but this option is not available when I try to burn. Similar prob. in Toast and in the OS X Burn command. I have contacted Dragon Burn support, who suggest it is a firmware problem, so I went to this French site:

http://www.macetvideo.com/flashpioneerosx/flashpioneerosx.html

and downloaded the osx flashes there. I run the program and get the following sequence. [Sorry about the length of this]:

Does the drive still work? I suspect you voided your warranty flashing the drive with non-apple firmware so hopefully it works.

But here's a thought--if your Apple computer won't do something it's supposed to, like burn 8x (you're sure the drive is supposed to do this?), why not ask Apple what the problem is?
