I have a Air SuperDrive and want to open the case to SWAP the RAW drive with my MacBook 2.1ghz's ComboDrive. I want to do that because I would use iDVD on MB instead of Air.

Do you guys know what is the model or part number for each unit? Are they the same size? Will I run into driver problems?

Have you tried to just plug in the superdrive to the USB on the MB? I know it needs more power than a regular USB port but who knows maybe the ports on the new MB will work.

MacBook optical drive is 9.5mm high - the drive in the Air Superdrive is 12.5mm high (same as in MBP 17" models) so will not fit.

Best bet is to "modify" the Air Superdrive to work with any USB port - as mentioned in the 3rd post.
