From reading many similar threads, I’m probably wasting everyone’s time, but... if a superdrive won’t burn DVD’s (many brands, + & –, etc), why is it able to burn CD’s perfectly?

If you`ve tried a good number of quality branded discs with no success it may be a fault with the drive itself.
I know the S/drive is notoriously picky when it comes to media.
