Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the superdrive supposed to be listed by name (as 'superdrive') anywhere on the system devices list in About This Mac? Under 'Disc Burning' it lists the specs, but doesn't actually say superdrive anywhere. I have a 2009 24" iMac.

I'm having problems with the superdrive and I've been wondering if that has anything to do with it. It won't read anything and eats discs.

HIi

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the superdrive supposed to be listed by name (as 'superdrive') anywhere on the system devices list in About This Mac? Under 'Disc Burning' it lists the specs, but doesn't actually say superdrive anywhere. I have a 2009 24" iMac.

The Super drive should be visible in system profiler -when we select USB .
If it is not reading any media -try to connect the drive to another USB port or to another Computer .

Or trying inserting MAC OS INSTALL DISC and check ..

Ok, seems to be working after a reinstall. It's not eating disks anymore.

However it won't open a Xerox printer driver CD-Rom which contains an installation video and a manual. What app do I use to open it? DVD Drive? Quick time? Nothing I choose is opening it.
