I'm not sure when this happen because i hardly ever use the superdrive. But Today i wanted to play Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 and it would try to read the CD then spit it out. Next i tried a music CD and same thing. But My 10.6 install disk and 10.5.5 OEM install disk work I also tried a DVD movie and that worked. I also tried a blank CD whitch that worked anybody got any ideas?

The Apple Super Drives don't seem to have a very long life.

I have a TiBook G4 that I replaced the Super Drive on two years ago. Like you I didn't use it much but it died. I replaced it myself and it wasn't that hard or expensive.
My late 2007 MacBook Pro Super Drive needs to be replaced. It started getting flakey with DVDs a year ago and now refuses to read them It ejects them. It still reads CDs fine. I intend to replace it in the near future. Two laptops with two Super Drives that died in about three years after they were new. I guess we just consider them consumables. ;-)
