Superdrive???

I've just finished ordering a iMac from apple.com.
I was looking through specs and I saw 8x Superdrive.
What is a '8x superdrive'?? my Macbook Pro has one also (figured out today) and now im wondering what it is..

It's the optical drive; it can read/write CDs and DVDs.
