Tried a search on this to no avail...

I downloaded SuperDuper 2.61 for SL and everytime I try to clone my HD, I get the error message "Failed to enable ownership on Mac OS X"

I have tried restarting the computer, repairing permissions, and partitioned my external HD using GUID.

Any ideas??

Thanks!!

Alright, here is the log I am getting...

If it's a superduper issue, then copy down your key, then delete the app, dowload the new version (which only came out firday evening) then retry.

SuperDuper Error

I too have this error. I did my first image capture (OK), restore the image (OK)then made some changes and tried to re-capture the new image (Error).
Will someone please try to assist..:(

Any success stories...?

Before I get myself into the same mess with the latest version of SuperDuper, has anyone downloaded it and found it to work correctly?

If so, which operating system are you using, Leopard or Snow Leopard?

Thanks, Bizy

I'm using the latest version (2.6.1 / v86) on Snow Leopard - works just fine. I can also use it in a clone of my last Leopard installation (made just prior to SL upgrade) - again, no problems.

I tired the link but it did not resolve my issue. I have looked on SuperDuper forum with no solution.

I have tried ignore HD ownership from GetInfo of my HD

I am getting the "Failed to Unable Ownership" on my external HD

I am using OS X SL on SuperDuper 2.5

I run SuperDuper as my main backup solution since Leopard.
I bought the full license immediately after trying once.

I have no issues whatsoever with SuperDuper or the backups it creates.
If you have any issues, I advise you, to contact Dave at the shirtpocket site (you might have to buy a license, to qualify for his email support).

I am fully satisfied with Dave's extremely quick and reliable email support.
He led me through my very first setup issues with a faulty USB hard drive very patiently until my issue was completely resolved.

The little money on SuperDuper is very well spent.

Failed to enable ownership

I also got this error "Failed to enable ownership" in red by trying to use SuperSuper with a new drive. Restarting the computer or the external hard drive didn't help.
Then I updated to the last version of SuperDuper (from 2.5 to 2.6.2) and it solved the problem. :)
The serial number is the same between the 2 versions (it's a free upgrade) so I didn't have to enter a new one.
This must be also related to the fact that I use now SnowLeopard and not Leopard. (SuperDuper 2.5 used to work fine with Leopard).
