stuck on mac pro 1.1 for now and just wondering for how much longer would be "safe" to use 10.7. I noticed no software updates in a while now..

No answer for you l but I'm intrigued by this as well. Running an old white MacBook with lion - updated as far as it can be

Support was discontinued last year, so Lion is already behind the latest security updates, and is probably vulnerable.

Shock! Horror! Gasp!
I'm STILL using 10.7.5. (face palm)
How vulnerable am I?
What if I don't want to upgrade to Yosemite which one would you recommend I upgrade to? What's the most stable ?
Mountain Lion or Mavericks?

Is it possible to purchase the OSX in store or do I have to download it?

Hi,

the only one you can buy today is Mountain Lion (Apple Store).

Mavericks is no longer available (or ask a friend who "bought" it...)

Yes Mavericks is newer than ML (10.10 vs 10.9), however it was removed from the App Store when Yosemite was released... and is not available on the Apple Store as ML is...

Ask Apple why... :D

So I guess it's Yosemite, what's the point of downloading ML?
Any tips before I upgrade to Yos,I suppose I will have to reinstall ALL my applications like Firefox again after the upgrade takes place? I guess that means backing up all my personal stuff too?

Thanks
