Hi everyone

Long time follower/reader, first time poster. Long story short, I have been gifted an A1425 Retina Macbook Pro that is having some issues.

ISSUE
The operation of the device is extremely sluggish and slow. Simple mouse click warrant a 2 second response. There is considerable lag and considerable wait upon booting and loading applications.

CURRENT TESTED REMEDIES
a. Replacing the current SSD with a Kingston 240GB mSATA SSD with adapter. (Improved speed but still very slow, still feels like a failing 15 year old hard drive)
b. Erased that SSD and installed MacOS via Recovery Mode. (Mountain Lion installed. Took about 8+ hours to install. No fix)
c. Reset PRAM and SMC (SMC slightly improved speed but still extremely slow)
d. Tried Hardware Diagnostic (D + Power) . Received EFBoot error. Unable to load.

CURRENT DEVICE OPERATION/SYMPTOMS
a. Display appears to be fine. No flicker on display and resolution displays correctly.
b. No other observed anomalies.
