My superdrive wasn't working very well - often not recognising blank media and discs that it had itself burned. So I had a look around and tried this procedure:

The blank media problem is still an issue but now it will recognise data DVDs.

However, when DVD Player detects a Region 2 disc and launches, it does so in Region 1 and prompts me to change the machine's region. I click to set the drive region, the prompt tells me the drive region was successfully changed, and then I get a message telling me "supported disc not available".

I would be very grateful for any advice, preferably to solve all of the problems, or any one of them.

Many, many thanks.
