Supreme Commander 2 on mac

That they have supreme commander 2 for mac.
got a question for people who have used steam games before.
Do you need internet to play the game. Eg i want to install it on my new macbook pro And i dont always have the internet.
eg i know that you need internet to download the game but to play the game do you need it?

It's mainly a multiplayer game, so I'd presume it needs internet to play after reading up. But I'm sure with single player you don't need internet. EDIT: After browsing google, you can play it without internet.
