Surprise! Closed MBP mode finally works!

I've had my 2006 MBP since June 2007 and could never get it to work in clamshell mode - lid shut but display on my HDTV. Then the other day, I cut it on while the lid was closed (done this before) and it WORKS !!
10.6.2 or what?
I tried all the procedures before but it would never work. Now it does.
Go figure.
Anyway, now I finally don't have 2 screens to look at.

Any comments?

Congratulations - You popped your clamshell cherry!

It always worked for me - prior 10.6.2...even in Leopard.

You could've always turned your brightness down on the laptop...and used the screen as your main screen...

It's worked for me as long as I can remember... My old G4 PowerBook did it. Strange.

Using my Monoprice HDMI and VGA adaptor on my 15" June 09 MBP I have yet to accomplish clamshell. I have tried every single possible procedure. But I'm still on 10.5.8 so we'll see when I upgrade during Christmas .
