Anyone know of any apps that will play flac or apple lossless audio files that are 5.1 channel? I've tried a bunch of different big media players (VLC, Kodi, etc.) and they're all only outputting 2 channel to my receiver. I have a temporary work around where I made mp4 video files with an AC3 track of the music, but that's far from optimal. I can live with it for now but would love a music player that could handle them.

As far as I know, Apple TV will only decode AC-3 multichannel audio. I've tried experimenting with a variety of formats to no avail... Apple TV 4 goes a step further and decodes E-AC-3 for more channels and (much) higher bitrates.

Yes, it would certainly be nice if Apple TV supported multichannel audio files. Niche market, I know, but surely can't imagine the file support would be that hard to implement.
