I came across this game, thanks to this video, I subscribe to him because of Cities:Skylines content. The game coincidentally is also from the same publishers.

This is a city building type game, but on mars. The relaunched game is for 39 dollars and the deluxe edition is for 60. Its confusing as to what the differences but as far as I can tell, its future DLCs.

This is a remastered version of the original game, and so this new standard edition includes all existing DLCs, not mad for under 40 bucks. The reviews on steam are mixed and reading through them the main topic is that all of the bugs that were reported in the original game are now addressed, but you have to pay for it (there is upgrade pricing). Basically for new players this is a good deal, for existing players not so much

I think I may take a chance on this

I'll wait until it hits the margin bin on Steam :).

I went and picked it up, and I'm going through the tutorial, I almost just jumped in and started the game, but I'm very happy I didn't. There's a lot more to the game then I realized, I mean that in a good way

I messed up the tutorial a few times, so I needed to restart it.

I'm impressed at how much control over the game mechanics you have. When I play a city sim, I sometimes like to play with unlimited funds, just so I can figure things out and just have fun without really worrying about the details.

With Surviving Mars, you largely have that and much more, though some of the game selectors, when enabled will disable achievements - if that's important to you.

Its a slow paced game, glacially even. I largely played an hour without really realizing it, and I only got the bare minimum built and running. Concrete extrator, water vaporator, and fuel refiner, that it. Of course, this is all new and I'm playing quite tentative and reviewing guides but still, very slow - not in a bad way.

I had the original and liked it, but ran out of things to do, and moved onto other games.

If you are a previous owner you get a nice 50%ish discount.
