Sushi in Providence RI

Okay, so I know this is thread will only apply to a small percentage of those who browse these forums, but I'm desperate.

I have a date this coming Friday and we've settled on sushi in Providence RI. Only problem is, I'm not familiar with the city at all. Can anyone please point me to a great (read: romantic... or as romantic as sushi gets) restaurant in Providence?
Unfortunately Zagat doesn't cover Providence and I can't seem to find a good site with reviews I trust. So hopefully you can suggest a good restaurant or a good online guide to find one!

why not go into boston is not a long drive. It takes me about 30 mins to drive from providence place mall to milton MA (which is right outside of boston) so prob will take your 45 mins or so then after words you can go to boston common and go on a swan boat (if their open) and/or take her to "the bench" from good will hunting.

The google search isn't the problem, its just I have no idea what place is worth bringing a date and which isn't.

I actually live in Boston (Southie specifically) and she lives in Attleboro so instead of having her take the 45 min drive up into town, I offered to take the 45 min drive down to pick her up (although she offered to drive up). I figured Providence would be easier at that point rather than driving back to Boston. Only problem: I know Boston like the back of my hand but Providence is a complete mystery.
 
the only place for sushi in providence worth going to is Tokyo on wickeden street, they do have a tatami room also (sit on the floor). also be aware the service is not great but the food is really good. an alternative would be haruki in wayland square, but while they have a cool decor the sushi itself is not as good as tokyo. tokyo is also BYOB which is great.
 
Well, not far from her, there's Yen Ching II, but I wouldn't consider that for a date...
There's also Oki on Mineral Spring Ave. in North Providence. They have a sushi bar and hibachi tables, and cost an arm and half a leg. Hibachi is cool though. :D

I had actually heard of a fun hibachi place in North Providence but had no idea where it was or the name of it. Thanks!

I have never been to Tokyo, also on Wickenden, but the friend who introduced me to sushi took me to Sakura first, said it was better than Tokyo.

That was also 10 years ago, so not sure how they are currently, but I did have a friend that worked at Ten recently and he talked about how good it was. Not in the "I work here and its wicked awesome so come eat here" but more like "I love working here and they do a great job with the food".

There is also a good place down in Middletown, but that would be another 30 min south of Prov.

I was actually looking into this... my searches online always seemed to lead me back to Ten. I'm thinking about possibly heading here. Anyone have a current review of the place?

And thanks for the luck. It's my first first-date in over a year, so hopefully I'm not too rusty! :)

It was great! It was so good I might have to come back here for advice on the upcoming second date. And third and fourth...

But seriously, we ended up going to Tokyo and it was great. We had a ton of fun and we're going to see each other again. The only thing I wish I knew about the restaurant is that they don't bring the check to the table, you walk to the register they have it waiting there for you. But that just gave us more time to sit and talk, so no complaints. :D

Anyway, thanks again for everyone's input. This is why I love MR. :)
