I recently got a quad G5 from a family member. The computer boots just fine, but the case looks like it's been used for live fire practice. I also have a dual 1.8 G5 that doesn't work (I think the processor has become slightly unseated...it runs fine for about 10 minutes before crashing, but runs fine if placed on it's side [door facing up, processors down]) but has a case in very good shape. I'd like to swap the internals from the G5 quad into the dual 1.8. Is this possible to do without modifications?

In a word, no. The case is not entirely different, but there are sufficient changes to prevent this.

The cases for the dual cores and the Quad are the same though, so if you could find either one of those (perhaps a dead buy off eBay) that would work.

Wait so the dual-core and quad-core cases are the same?

Yes, pretty much. Enough to transplant your Quad innards.

Don't confuse the Dual Cores (2.0 and 2.3) with Dual Processors (of which the 2.7Ghz DP is one). Only the Quad and Dual Cores are the same enough to do what you want.
