Swap files?

i used disk inventory X and it showed i have about 768mb of swap files, what are these? are they safe to delete? and help would be nice

It's chunks of virtual memory.

No. Don't touch the swap file. That is used by the system to temporarily move data from the RAM when it needs more space.

It's best to leave 6-10 GB free for swap space on the hard drive.
