Is it possible to just swap the hard drives on two Macbook pro's, one of them is a 13" early 2011 with OS X 10.9.5, and the other one is a 13" late 2011 with High Sierra.
Since the computers are nearly identical is it possible to swap the hard drives without the need to do anything else?
I am mainly interested in using the hard drive from the early 2011 MB Pro in the late 2011 MB Pro.

Is this doable?

Yea it would work fine.

Thanks. An unrelated question so the forum doesnt get one more thread....if i want to transfer a Time Capsule backup to a hard drive of a new mac, or at least some of the contents on the backup, do i need to reinstall the OS and chose to set up the computer with a TM backup, or can i just manually transfer contents from the TM backup to a hard drive/mac that already has been set up as new?

You can swap the drives.

But if you really want to improve the performance of the late 2011 MBPro, put an SSD into it.

A world of difference.
