Curious if anyone has tried this. I'm planning on buying the new MBP 14 base model but was going to get it through someone other than apple. (Probably Amazon as I get 5% back). I want the bigger power brick that comes with the 10 core but can't order it that way through amazon. Anyone know if I can swap an unused brick at the apple store and pay the 20 bucks that it would cost to custom order it that way?

The standard brick (which I have) is no slouch. Not as hard on the battery, either. Doesn't answer your question, but just to let you know the standard brick is pretty good. All the reviewers repeat each other "you have to get the bigger charger," but I think it is a bit overstated. Heck, I have been sometimes charging my 14" MBP with only a 20W charger, which takes about 4 hours from 20% to 100%.
