Hey all, I recently purchased a 11-inch MBA (Mid 2013) w/ 256GB SSD and 27-inch (Late 2013) iMac with 3TB Fusion Drive.
It's nice that the MBA has 256GB SSD, but I think only having 128GB SSD on MBA is good enough. However, I seriously think that 128GB SSD on the iMac's Fusion Drive isn't really enough for my need. Seems like programs & OS are already taking up all 128GB of SSD storage. Plus, I used to be able to part out portion of SSD before I create fusion drive volume. With the 128GB SSD I really can't do that b.c. after doing so, I'll have less than 100GB of SSD storage on my Fusion Drive.
My old Mid-2011 27-inch iMac with DIY Fusion Drive (200GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 50GB was parted out separately from 250GB SSD for Windows) was very nice I must say, but I had to move on to newer machine due to slow graphic performance.
So, I was wondering if the PCI-E SSD from MBA compatible with the SSD that's inside of the Late 2013 iMac? I know they both use PCI-E, but I heard some saying that Mac Pro(2013) uses 4 channel SSD or something... and I was curious if that's the case with the iMac here and might not be compatible?
So bottom line, my question is
Is Mid 2013 MBA's SSD transferrable to Late 2013 iMac's SSD for the Fusion drive?
