Swap Sim from 3gs to 2g...need to reactivate?

I upgraded to the 3gs from my 2g phone. With the 2g phone I would just put my sim into an old razr when i would go the beach or pool. But now if i put my sim from the 3gs into the razr it does not work, or if i put it into my 2g it tells me to plug it into itunes and has me set up a new plan. any way to work around this?
