Hello,
I just bought a new early 2011 MBP to replace me late 2008. My late 2008 had a SSD with snow leopard installed and just wanted to swap both HDD but got a folder with question mark in a folder when booting my early 2011 MBP.

Then I put my SSD back in my late 2008 to boot back, then backup my stuff and then starting from scratch with the SSD on the early 2011.

But unfortunatly, I have that folder with question mark in the early 2008 MBP as well :(

Anything I can do to boot or I am screwed?

Regards

Hmm fail HDD, Did it fail when I plugged in the new MBP? that is hard to believe

It doesn't sound like it has failed. Try holding alt while booting and selecting the drive. Sounds like it just can't find it for some reason. If that doesn't help, then look at the other steps in that guide.

the background stay light grey and nothing happen. I can see my mouse arrow tho

I've tried anything in thse guide and nothing worked. So I put my SSD on my new early 2011 and reinstalled OSX. You should have seen my eyes when I saw all my applications were still there!

Reinstalling OS X does not erase any data, I even mentioned it in the guide ;)
