Hi everyone,

I have a 2015 13inch a1502 macbook pro 2.7 ghz 8gb ram, I swapped the logicboard for a 2015 a1502 3.1ghz 16gb ram but now my mac wont turn on. Keeps going into recovery mode. Why is this? Has the original ssd and all.

It won't turn on (no start-up chime) or won't boot to the desktop?

There is a start up chime but it won't go to desktop. If I hit command or option + r I go to recovery mode. I can't install any OS because it doesn't detect a ssd or drive... I have the original ssd that came with laptop. If I use a usb installer like my Catalina OS, the mac will detect it but can't select any drive to install it to. I can also go into disk utility if that helps. My ssd is APFS volume.

If the Disk Utility doesn't see the SSD, has it been seated/installed correctly on the new logic board?

MacBooks with non-removable batteries

To reset SMC on MacBook:

  • turn off the MacBook;
  • disconnect the power adapter from the device;
  • press the combination of Shift-Ctrl-Alt buttons on the left side of the keyboard, and then hold down the power button without releasing the other three;
  • keep all four buttons pressed for 10 seconds;
  • release all keys;
  • connect the power adapter;
  • start the MacBook by pressing "Power".

Macbooks with removable batteries

For MacBook models with removable batteries, the SMC controller reboot procedure goes through the following:

  • turn off the device;
  • disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the MacBook;
  • carefully remove the battery;
  • press the power button and hold it for five seconds;
  • replace the battery and connect the power adapter;
  • to turn on the MacBook, press "Power";
  • Resetting the SMC may cause the LED on the power adapter to change color or turn off temporarily.
